Well the first conference is done and dusted.
Was good to see users from Norway & Dubai along with the usual suspects from the USA.
I think the idea has lots of potential.
I will try to be a bit more focused on specific topics for the next one.
Please feel free to post any comment, suggestions or criticisms you may have so that we can make it better.
ED
I followed the video (which on my laptop stops and starts )and followed the tutorial.
I don't which step I ommitted when doing nit from memory(and I swear blind it was exactly as per the tutorail) but it worked a charm!
Should have looked at the tutorial without prompting.
Thanks for the reminder

Doc has generously donated some of his military insignia weave patterns so that anyone wanting to build rods for veterans can add a weave more easily.

This one is a Master Chiefs insignia.
There are several versions in the zip file.

That's a lot better John.
You can see that you drifted down on the lower jaw, but the rest is tight and straight.
Just pay attention as you go that all teh threads are paralell to the blank.
the natural tendency is for the bottom ones to drift down and the top ones to drift up.
This is caused by tension when they are in the jig.
You just have to adjust it constantly and when you do your final tightening start in the middle and work out, so you can pull them straight without trying to push other threads at the same time.
G'day Pete,
The cost of a jig can range from a few dollars for a home made one to several hundred for a wonder weaver.
I use a basic jig (Doc Ski's variety) for all weaves less than 100 threads high.
We have a wonder weaver II for anything bigger than that.
You can get them here
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to or
or here
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to or

Or you can make one yourself if you wish.

It doesn't matter whether it's a single or multi-layer weave, the jig is the same.
About the only time you absolutely have to have something like a wonder weaver is is you wanted to do a 360 degree weave.
